Here's the OG Ratcliffe muskrat --->

Most interesting part is it looks like he cut his own nail nick in the wharncliffe blade ... presumably was a broken blade reclaimed - love to see "makin' something outa nuthin" like this !

I suppose it's not too bad for an early "Prototype"
However, IMHO, your Ratcliffe mods are far superior and take the concept to the "next level" in comparison

I like the Muskrat pattern as it is, two identical blades but that old Case with the short Wharncliffe moditication might be a handy EDC.
Might try to modify one myself.

Growing up most guys I knew carried a muskrat. Was popular back then. I'd say about half of them had a snapped or worn blade reshaped into a pen, sheepsfoot, etc.

Treefarmer - the muskrat blade sets up nicely for a mod into a wharncliffe - give it a shot & let us know how it comes out ---> here's an example of one I did

I have a stunning early Remington split back whittler with early brown bone scales. Superb condition. I got it from the original owner, that yes only carried it on Sunday's to and from church. Having a screw loose, literally and figuratively, he snapped off the pen blade halfway so as to have a screwdriver blade to tighten aforementioned lose screw. Only a few times in my life have I wanted to beat an elderly person with a rubber hose, but this is one of the times.

Lanski it's pleasing to the eye if ya don't think muskrat ::undecided::and a good recovery for broken blades.
