Are you sure it is Japanese? It looks German to me.

This flip lock springer, pattern or style of pocket knife, arrived recently in a group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. It is my very first springer pocket knife and it now becomes my first example to be posted here. However, this particular pocket knife was NOT the reason for my purchase of the group or lot. But, as it turned out, it is most definitely a keeper. It will be a different, but welcomed addition, to my general, foreign made, pocket knife collection. It is an EIG CUTLERY, one blade, 4 3/8" closed, 7 3/4" overall length, one tang stamp, one bolster stamp, flip lock springer, pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "EIG CUTLERY (over) JAPAN" The bolster front stamp says, "SPRINGER" Cosmetically, this pocket knife has some flaws. Mechanically, this pocket knife functions the way it should. Overall, this pocket knife is in GOOD condition. I did give it a bit of a cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Those sure are nice! Some of those old Japanese built knives are really well done. I've got some vintage Japanese folders that can really stand tall on the quality scale.

That sure looks very much like my TOYOKAZU TIGER! The blade looks identical, same stag antler scales, different carving pattern... When was yours produced?
Thanks,
Mr. Mike

The Eig knives were imported until 1958.

I totally agree, nothing Japanese looking on that knife at all, IMO.
