All About Pocket Knives

Just something to share, this is my collection of "campers".
I had some fun with this collection, I wasn't after any specific maker and I wasn't too concerned with condition (but still tried to find examples that were good to descent ...or better). What I was after was the NAME, it just struck me one day how many different names I had been seeing so I went after finding the ones I knew of. It would be fun to hear of others that fit this "Theme"

So here we go, it's a short list. Picture a campground and In progression we have:

A "Camper" By The Ideal USA
a "Camp Buddy" by Campbuddy USA
a "Camp Master" by Providence Cutlery Co (Prov Cut Co) USA
a "Kamp King" in Black and Pearl by Imperial USA, and in color by Hammer Brand USA
a "SUPER Kamp King" in Red and Pearl by Imperial USA
a "Forest Master" by Colonial USA
And a "Trooper" by LF&C USA (portrait trooper emblem and in need of a bail I just noticed), and one which has no stamps and I need to identify still.

with a carded collection of Imperials in the background (just missing the Barlow, it's a bit elusive)
What else is there, I think I saw a forest King out there... what do you have ?

I've been tossed up on the Troopers too, are they scout troopers, or are they State troopers.
Do they belong before the camper or after the forest master... these are important topics.

IMHO that's a Boy Scout on the shield. Neckerchief, maybe a slide, and all. I think it could have been LFC's attempt to get in the BSA market maybe before they were officially sanctioned in 1931 after New York Knife closed down. It's a really great piece. J.O'.

Check you out being all observant. I Like it (and happen to agree with ya)

I've always really liked this Trooper but I haven't given it the attention it deserves.
Think I'll clean it up just a tad, and hey... it just got a new bail.

I have an accumulation of scout/camping knives, which I sorted through to find the following (some with names, some just different makers than you show):

"Campers Knife", by Jowika Ireland
"Scout", by Imperial, pre-shell construction. The punch is, unfortunately, broken
not labeled, by Camillus
BSA tenderfoot logo, by Ulster
"Scout", by Crucible Knife Co.
"Forest Master", by Colonial

And sorry, I don't know why the photo inverts when you click on it. Obviously I am not as smart as my computer...

Thanks for sharing Brent, puts a different twist on some of our knives, i might have to set up a GI Joe tent and have them all laying around on cots. LoL
I have another sub-collection of Scouts that I tried to keep seperatre, they will make another appearance later.

Hobie did a clip on this one that I liked.
Actually I had already aquired it and came across his video when looking for more info on it. Funny how often I landed back on Hobie when researching pieces. I'd either end up there during research on a piece I had, or I'd be off looking for another knife because I saw something from him I liked.

Soon after the Boy Scouts of America were organized (in 1910) several competing youth organizations were started. IIRC Boy Troopers was one of them. Most were “copycat” organizations that didn’t last long in the face of rapidly spreading BSA success. I wasn’t able to find much about the Boy Troopers but there are some old books still around.

Really, I knew it was a boy trooper, but I just assumed it was so dubbed bacause , you know. he was a boy (young man).
I never thought it might be another organization, that's kool. I'll have to read into that, thanks Ken.

I've got the 1911 1st edition BSA knife, this one I think is 1920s-30's...

I've got year matching handbooks for some of my older official scout knives, I may have to get a Boy Trooper book for this one now.

I think that book and others like it are stories written like a novel for young readers. Might have to look long and hard to find a Boy Troopers handbook.

Oh yea, no doubt that it would be a rare find on an actual handbook (if they ever even existed)
Heck I had a hard time finding any reference to them as an organization, be it not for your insight I would have just assumed the Boy troopers to be a fictional reference. I saw the Claire Hayes books during my hunt for official BSA knives but never gave them much thought until now. (but I do think one would be cool to go with the knife still).

I spent some time googling and came up with mostly nothing except for those books, and almost gave up right until I saw this (pic).
So far only this, and one reference to a tent made popular by them is all I've found.

Ray, yes Robeson it is. Screwdriver and file on the edge.

Thought it might be a file but it leaned a little towards a metal saw even.
Heck the can opener looks like it could almost be a secondary blade too, interesting piece and an etching ta boot.
