Most of the ones I have encountered have been from Germany, Austria, or Czechoslovakia. The one exception is the double-edged fixed blade(pictured)that is stamped MADE IN FRANCE.

I am kind of ambivalent about the fur and hoof handles. I can see the appeal to a sportsman hunter, but they are not to my taste. I am not very squeamish about dead animal parts: I like bone, horn, and ivory handles. But those hoof handles just do not appeal to me

That is exactly what I felt when I saw those. Perhaps I would feel different if I was an hunter.
