Maybe not great for dressing small stuff, but it's primarily a camp knife........so
Will it chop ? Hell Yeah !!!
Will it break ? Hell No !!!!!
Will it take an edge ? Hell Yeah !!!
Will it ever look bad ? HELL NO !!!

It’s a lump of a knife for sure and they were not shy of putting some serious scales on it.

It feels solid and trustworthy, locks up tight and the second slip joint blade has a snap like a crocodile!!!

I did find this to sell but as usual I’m liking it too much lol

Ok guys,

Got this today from an Auction cost a fair bit with fee's etc Circa $150 + $30 shipping to the UK

But I really wanted one of these for my personal collection, and this is truly 1998 Brand New Old Stock looks like it has never seen day light to be honest.

My question is, due to the Brass tarnishing/going dark over time, should I bring it back to life or would there be more value in letting sleeping dogs lie ?

Think I have snapped up a Rare Puma at an Auction, should be delivered by next week, it's pretty rough looking at the moment.

But if anybody can Identify it from the only photo I have I would be interested to know which one I have bought.

It maybe an early Hunters Pal ? The Rear Brass bolster is on a few I have seen but the front Bolster/Guard is one I have not seen before ??

After some reseach........OK a lot of research I think this is a Nicker

My Latest Puma
Spotted this in an Auction, was totally caked in dirt and debris, I do not think anyone else noticed what this was so I scooped it up for the starting bid of £20, which for a 1974 Kleiner Jagnicker I thought was pretty good.

Now the blade was in a bad state as it looked like somebody had used an Angle Grinder to attepmt to sharpen it at some point. Wish I took some pic's before I got to work on it now, but to be honest I was not too hopeful it would come out very well.

I have left some of the light scratches from the grinder on the blade as they are too close and over some of the blade stamp info.
To do this I went through 120-1500 grit hand sanding to remove the damage. Yep 120 !!! it was that bad and deep.

Also had an issue with the chrome around the text as I had to take a fair amount off the blade to remove the damage, so I think I have discovered a hack to blend the chrome and bare stainless steel...........

This is what I did:

Lightly sand with 1500 grit the remaining chrome just enough to dull some of the mirror finish of it, then I used Mothers Mag and the same 1500 grit paper to lightly buff and polish the whole blade in sweeping motions. Then the usual polish with Mothers Mag.
This has blended the bare Stainless and the chrome seamlessly.
I then gave the stag the usual clean and then used Danish Oil rather than plain mineral oil to treat the stag and this has also come out very well.
As for the sheath I have done nothing, but it seems ok to be fair.
I then used my Worksharp Adjust to put a new edge around a 30 degree angle as I wanted to keep it barely visible but sharp.

Overall this in my opinion has come out pretty good, as I said before I should of taken photos of how bad it was when it arrived, but trust me my heart sank when I saw it first, but for £20 I was not afraid to give it a blast.

I think you did a remarkable restoration, Jt. Very well done.

Also, I'll just mention that I enjoy the worn look of the leather sheath for your Puma White Hunter. It makes the knife look like you just returned from a trek in the Serengeti.

And yep I love that sheath.............I know it's personal preference but I don't why they make Black leather Sheaths ?? Just don't feel like they suit the outdoor enviroment. Worn distressed brown leather does it for me everytime...........so does stag tbh

JT, perfect clean up on that one.

A PUMA...but one of the not so famous ones...lol...still Puma I think...the foreign assembled Puma SGB knife series with Solingen steel!!....
I found it a bit boring with slim ugly white bone handles...so I worked it a bit!!
