Is it OK to use honing oil: to protect the blades for rust? Thanks.

If you did not under stand what Blade Runner ment by Ren Wax this will clear it up for you.

Renaissance Wax is one of the best ways to help protect all parts of a knife.

Look in some of the AAPK stores if you want to buy some.

Honing oils are really lubricants...not anti-corrosion agents. Some are water-based, some are petroleum-based. Using honing/mineral oil is certainly better than nothing. But there are better choices for long term protection against corrosion. Ren Wax, or Tuff-Glide are just two that come to mind.
