This gentleman's or lobster style of pocket knife arrived recently in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. However, it did turn out to be a keeper and it will make a nice addition to my general, foreign made, pocket knife collection. It is a SYNANON, one blade, one tool (a cap lifter or bottle opener), 1" X 2 3/4" closed, one tang stamp, gentleman's or lobster style of pocket knife. The handles have a faux, black leather look. The main blade front tang stamp says, "SYNANON (over) STAINLESS (over) JAPAN" The main blade has a soft half stop and a weak opening and closing snap. The tool also has a soft half stop and a weak opening and closing snap. But overall, it is in EXCELLENT condition. It did NOT need any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off, took some pictures and here it is.

Synanon began as a drug treatment program, morphed into a cult and ended when top members were convicted of fraud and other offenses. Knife must have been made for them.

Any time Skip! I think Synanon began in 1958 and ended in disgrace in the early 1990s.
