who Made S X M pocket knife in Gowanda NY and when?

I bought this nice little wood handled 2 blade knife and am having trouble identifying the maker. The tang mark says "Gowanda NY" with an "S" over a line that forms an "X" in the middle and an "M" on other sid
e of X. Any ideas who made it and when? I know Platt & Sons and Case Bros were in Gowanda. Were there other knife makers there as well?

I am no expert, but I am pretty sure that would be Schatt & Morgan.

Just for the sake of discussion. Price says S & M were in Gowanda 189_?-1896,but then says the factory was sold to Platts in 1895 ?? Levine says 1890-1895, but says the Gowanda facility was sold in 1896 ? Goins says 1897-1902? The usual confusion. Keeps it interesting.
Anyway it's a cool knife and pretty rare. J.O'.

S&M Gowanda is a rare stamp.
They printed a catalog with the Gowanda stamp on the knives depicted, but then moved the factory and it has been thought by some that they never actually produced knives with that mark, but they did.
Someone here owns one and the OP knife is another.
How many were made?
Two, that I know of, but almost certainly more.

Just as an update, the guide shown there was from 2019. There was an updated version released May 2022 that included some additional stamps. Total list now has 71 different ones. I'm sure there are more out there to be found.
