All About Pocket Knives

Wondering if anyone has picked up any of the 2022 yellow curly oak handled knives. I have been looking at them on line, and it's hard to get a good idea of what they actually look like. I know there will be a variance, but curious if anyone has one to show here. Plus any thoughts on the general fit and finish etc...

Yeah.. I would kinda want to see it in person before dropping a dime.. Lately it seems to be a crap shoot with Case.. That last 2 I got thru the mail both had issues.. And 1 of those I returned which is wayyy unusual for me as I am not real picky..

As wood handles go, that Yellow Curly Oak is quite attractive. I'm especially partial to highly figured wood with clearly visible grain...and that YCO looks like it fills the bill nicely in that regard.

I would only add this one caveat: As much as I like Case knives in general, the inconsistent quality I have personally experienced lately has me thinking twice before ordering a knife online. Also, because I prefer the highly figured wood grain, I would want to see a pic of the EXACT knife I was getting before committing to buy. I've been burned by stock photos (mostly of stag) that show the best of the lot but when I get one, the knife in my hand often looks nothing like what I had expected based on the seller's photo, which is very disappointing to say the least.

EDIT: To be fair, I should also add that the reverse has also happened to me once or twice, i.e., the knife I received was actually nicer than the stock photo...but this is is not nearly as common as the other way around.

I realize this is a slight deviation from the OP topic, but it is related, so...

Here's just one example I found on eBay showing how much difference there can be between the stock image and a pic of a random knife of the same pattern from the run. To my eye there's a significant difference in the grain and I would not be very happy if I thought I was getting the one shown in the stock photo but ended up with the other one. JMO, YMMV.

Yes, photos, especially stock and catalogue/website photos are usually not what you receive. But it can also work in your favour, i have received online purchases that have far exceeded what i was expecting from the advertised item. One was a Case knife that blew my mind when i opened it up. But it is still the old " Caveat Emptor ".
