All About Pocket Knives

Hi Guys,

I have stumbled accross this online and it seems to have a fair price. It looks just like the knife my Dad carried when I was a boy, I do recall his was Sheffield Made ( like most of the knives from my Childhood )

This one has "Sheffield made" on the Tang and "BRIT.PAT.416767" on the back of the Tang.

Basically Can anyone tell me about this knife or Identify the maker ?

I think I might buy it for his Christmas Present, but any knowledge to go with would be just as valuble.

You'd think I would being a British Born guy.........Maybe the PAT is short for patina ??

I would guess that's a British Patent number, which you can probably look up somehow.

I would guess that's a British Patent number.

Yup .............

Nice looking knife - it appears to have been made with "shell" handle construction. That would point to Richards as the manufacturer.

That is good to know, is there anywhere I can find out more about Richards Knives ??

PS : I've bought it now so it really will be good to tell him some provanance of the Knife.
