All About Pocket Knives

The five rusty swords were found in a dumpster behind a lodge. I would like to make at least one good one and possibly cut shorter one. I can do electrolysis with baking soda and maybe presoak in vinegar. Suggestions welcome.

Neither electrolysis nor vinegar will produce a shiny blade. If you want the blade to look right, you'll have to use abrasion as the final method of removing the corrosion.

I was thinking use a buffing wheel to get the rust off. Then you can figure out how to shine it up.

I would use a wire wheel to knock the rust and crud off. Then go with progressively less course sandpaper until you are satisfied with the condition of the metal surfaces. Then figure out how to make a decent sword out of what you have. May the force be with you!

You could use the electrolysis or chemicals to get the rust off ...BUT.... to get a nice finish on the blade you will have to use abrasives.
