I have this knife with a neat pattern on the blade.I was wondering if any one has done a pattern like this? Could it be done by face milling?? Maybe a drill press with a end mill bit. Any help on this would be appreciated.

That is called "engine turning", can be done with a drill press.

I like jeweling. I had my Super redhawk barrel slab sided and was gonna have it engraved, but the guy s sight was failing so, I would like to have it jeweled. I like my rifle bolts jeweled too. never thought about a knife, til now.

I am so glad to see this post.
In my "day job" I work on Vault Doors for banks, and some of the old doors (80 to 100 years old) have this engine turning pattern. I never knew what it was called, and never thought about putting it on a knife. I will have to check that out!

Very common in racing, first I've seen it on a knife. Actually surprised no one has done this sooner . . .

Same here, I haven't seen it on a knife before. Kind of a cool embellishment for the right knife!

Herman Williams used this technique on a number of his knives.
