All About Pocket Knives

I have this 3 blade Robeson knife. It has a closing system that clicks every 1/8 to 1/4. Would anyone have any info on this?

Robeson Mastercraft knives had a bronze bearing on the end of the tang.
These would come off then you get the effect you are talking about.
Not meant to be that way.

Robeson’s MasterCraft pocketknives had a bronze bearing inletted onto the rear of the blade tangs in sort of a horseshoe configuration. There were little indents in the tang that helped hold the two together.

Unfortunately, they did have a tendency to fall off.

When that happened, it exposed the indents, resulting in them catching on the tip of the backspring, causing the stops described in the OP.

Here is a demonstration knife with transparent handles, showing the bronze bearing.

Sometime after 1940, they moved the bearings from the blade tangs to the ends of the backsprings and changed the name of the line to PermaLube.
