All About Pocket Knives

Greetings folks,

I’ve been ‘lurking’ for quite some time in this ‘switchblade’ section, so thought I should introduce myself. I’m a lifelong knife enthusiast and although I acquired my first switchblade over four decades ago as a teenager (now long gone), I’ve only recently renewed my interest in these wonderful knives. I’ve purchased a handful of new Latamas and I’m really enjoying not only this modest collection but learning more of the history.

Thank you to all who participate and share their knowledge, it continues to be fun learning and reading all the input form you gents.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello.

to AAPK Roy! I too am an automatic knife enthusiast, who would someday love to own a genuine Latama, but due to where I live along with the relatively high cost of those gorgeous knives I am limited to viewing and wishing for one for the time being. I have been able to acquire over 50 autos that currently reside in my collection, but I'm always looking for more. We' love pictures here at AAPK, so if you have any please post them for us to enjoy! I hear you on the legalities, my home country of England, such knives were and still are completely illegal, however now I'm a proud American I love to enjoy our freedoms.

I will be happy to share some pics once I can sort some out. I only have a few example but take a lot of joy from them.

Very kind mate.

I have lived all over the US (mostly western states) but currently have just moved (for my wife's job) from Arizona to Colorado. It's not bad here, it's actually my 'sixth' time living in this state. However I'm missing the freedoms of Arizona already!

Roy! There are a few of your fellow countrymen, and I'm talking England, onsite so perhaps you can read about some of their exploits with having knives shipped to them, but actually, since you now reside in the US it would be for informational purposes more than anything else. I also wanted to mention to you, there's a possibility this topic will get moved by our moderators over to the "Introduction" section, but if they do it's only for organizational reasons. I might be way off base too, it might stay right where it is!

I actually ship/receive knives to/from the UK weekly due to my work (note website below) and have occasionally shipped vintage military auto knives to my UK clients. No issues thus far so fingers crossed.

P.s. for those interested, I'm a Shropshire lad.

The fighting stilettos on your website should be legal to import to the UK if I'm not mistaken Roy. The military autos squeaking past were likely "hit and miss" by UK Customs, unless they were sent to an APO address. I deal with a LOT of "hit and miss" with Canada Customs so I have a bit of experience in this area. I'm glad to hear you've had no issues so far, you must be living the good life! lol!
