Hello sorry for you loss.. Loosing a Father is a hard thing to process. Any family member is but now you have to use what dad taught you in all your days to come..I tell my son all the time "my dad" showed me how to do this or I learned this by watching my dad do it. Including all the bad and stupid things too! Never knew your father here but anyone who collects knives would be a friend of mine. Take care & keep them knives oiled.

Roland was a wonderful person and a great friend. My sincerest condolences to you and your family, I can only imagine the loss you feel. If you have any questions regarding the knives feel free to ask here, there's a lot of knowledge floating around these forums.

I bought from Roland and worked with him on several knives to establish prices before he offered them for sale. I also bought knives from him and resold them and split the profit with him. It would be an honor to help with whatever I can do. Just send me a pm, or if you have access to Rolands emails, I’m sure I am in there.

Sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great part of the forum here, and was helpful and generous with his time and knowledge. He will be missed for sure!

I had several knife-related deals with him, and your dad always made sure I was satisfied with my end of the deal. There are many members here, I am sure we can assist you with whatever help you need regarding your dad's collection.

We have all had discussions in the past about how our loved ones will have to deal with our collection(s) when we are gone. I'm not sure how you feel about your dad's knives, but he sure liked them. It is probably overwhelming, it may be a burden to some, but try to look at it as a way to still have a connection with your dad as you move forward.

Mark (SSK) is a straight shooter and he won't screw you if you should decide to go into business with him.

Roland was very inquisitive , and he loved knives for sure. Probably more than anyone I know. You've came to the right place for help.

Roland was a very active participant here at AAPK and he was much loved by the members.

Many prayers were uttered for Roland from the very first moment we were aware of his illness, up to the very end.

He is missed here, as I am sure he is missed by his family.

Roland owned a lot of knives, a good many of very high quality and he did endeavor to reduce the quantity over the past years. I have no idea how successful he might have been.

Several members here have offered their assistance in valuing what you have and assisting in their dispersal. These are all honest men and will not take advantage of you and the situation in which you now find yourself.

Stick around AAPK. Read the threads re’ Roland and our love for him. He was special and could really spark a conversation when it came to American politics.

Sincere condolences for the loss your father. Roland was a valued member here and respected for his knowledge of pocket knives, as well as the quality and depth of his collection. He and I were polar opposites politically but foremost shared a love of cutlery which extended beyond politics. We shared many PM discussions of knife values, as he always wanted to be sure the prices he asked when selling his knives were fair and above board. As you can tell from the posts you’ve received your father was a valued member of this community.

I can only confirm what many members have stated so far KJS, that your dad was a much-loved member of this forum and the knife community over-all, and he is dearly missed. I too offer my sincere condolences for your loss, I lost my dad when I was 27 and it still hurts today when I think about him, of course not the same level of hurt, but hurt, nonetheless. I didn't have the same relationship with your dad that some folks here did, but he answered many questions for me regarding things about knives I knew nothing about, he was always ready to help others. All the offers you've so far received to help with you dad's knives are genuine offers from folks who really care, I have done business with some of those guys, and they could really help you. If you find any automatic knives in the collection, I could help with those cuz I too live in Canada like I'm assuming you do, so there would be no borders or Customs. I also want to extend to you a hearty welcome to AAPK, with your presence her it almost feels like Roland "Kootney Joe" is back!

Like so many of the others here, I extend my sincere condolences on the loss of your father. He was active and knowledgeable about knives and collecting. I bought quite a few from him and I was never unhappy with a one of them.

THANK YOU all so much for your kind words and wishes. It means a lot to me and my family to know that dad was supported so kindly by so many amazing people. Dad loved his knife community, loved his knives too, but it's the community and support that these shared interests bring together that adds so much depth to these passions. I truly appreciate all the offers of help and it makes me think that dad would have done the same. I am blessed to be his son ( even through the bad stuff) and to be able to glimpse into this world is a healing experience. Dad passed on Sept 8, 2022 peacefully in the Nelson hospital. I took care of him everyday for the last 6 weeks of his life. His stories of his knife buddies and of the vast world of knives always brought a smile and a raise of energy to his voice.

Sorry for your loss - your dad was a value to this site. My dad was a Remington collector - My sister and I sold half of his collection and while doing so I became a collector of pocket knives as well - I am glad I kept alot of his knives and really have a regret of selling some as well - My condolences - Clint
