Just a little survey.....what type of grind do you prefer and why? I like hollow grinds on most stock removal blades i do because i find them easier to finish/polish on a wheel......I like flat grinds for forged blades and damascus especially to show the pattern best.....I find flat grinds a bit longer to finish because of the hand sanding involved.....I really like the flat grinds on large bowies and choppers

I am assuming you’re asking primarily about fixed blade preferences? This is interesting as one of my sons and I were just talking about this in relation to pocket knives.

Personally I prefer a flat grind with a nice long bevel. I find they hold an edge longer than a hollow ground blade, at least on a pocket knife. And I just am not a fan of the hollow ground look on a fixed blade, just my opinion.

But then there is a blade profile that has been out of favor for years that is a personal favorite of mine…saber ground. I love a good saber ground clip blade on a pocket knife or fixed blade either one.

I am definitely in the flat grind camp. I like my blades to be slicey,. Spyderco does a flat grind very well.

I like the looks of hollow grinds but harder to clean up when badly sharpened or scratched up for me anyhow..
