I have had this knife for years. Found a picture in one of Sargents early books looks identical. I have been told it should be a straight line stamp. What do you think. Someone has cleaned it way too much. Harold

Harold, nice knife. I have a theory that has zero proof. I have come to this opinion by handling different variations of same patterns.
That stamp I believe to be a contract stamp just like the straight line stamp. I believe those blades were stamped in the Remington factory and given to the contract company to assemble. The true straight line stamp I believe those blades were made and stamped in the contract companies factory.
