Need pictures of what youβre describing. Go to the forum home page
https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/knife_forum/, scroll down to AAPK Tips & Tricks, open it, then scroll down to find instructions for posting pictures from your device. Itβs not difficult.

It could be a scale material that isn't bone.

Did Case use any handle material other than bone or Delrin on a Cheetah made in 1973? (both materials would still have a "6" in the pattern number.)

I leave that question to the experts (Steve, Ken, some others)?

No.
Pattern stamps were always light in that era, most likely a light stamp and uneven.

Thanks, Steve. I'm lost without a good reference book.

And so far his last - hasn't logged in here since he made the post.

Sorry for the delay. I am a seller on eBay have been for 11 years. It is listed for sale there with lots of pics. I am not familiar with the navigation tools on this site. you can see the knife on eBay. My user name there is jerrr51 it is a beautiful red bone cheetah. Some of you may have purchased knives from me. A friend of mine named Craig Moore, he has passed now, sadly. He told me he had heard of a few only made in 1973. There is no number to be seen. so the handle material would be irrelevant. Thank you, guys and gals, for all the input. Kyle.

I have no clue how to search an eBay seller using my phone app. Can you provide a link? Thanks!
