if that is indeed what it says it is, that's in fantastic shape. All I know though is what I've gleaned from reading here, so I really can't say. Nothing glaringly obvious to me

It is not a old NYKC knife. IMO

The jigging on that bone does not resemble any NYK bone I have ever seen. If he didn't state otherwise in his description, I would guess that the handle material was plastic, not bone, but, of course, I don't have the knife in my hand so I can't say for sure. The overall look of the knife just doesn't match my vision of an NYK knife.

The scales are a red flag to me.I seriously doubt they are any natural material unless it is from the endangered,"DuPont" tree. I have never seen a NYK Barlow although knowing the number of patterns back then anything is possible.Also why is the pivot pin so prominent?Every old Barlow I've ever seen the pivot pin is near-invisible.My guess is it is a re-blade although I've never seen that type of jigging;real or cast.

REAL NYK barlows! Yes they do exist. A little worn, and one abusively wire brushed, but still working perfectly. There is a Schrade repro around also, that looks like a Schrade of course. I'll add it when i find the darn thing;

I think there are different Arm&Hammer stamps. Someone posted a pic of them, but I couldn't find it. This one is definitely different, for what it's worth.

I wasn't questioning the authenticity of the blades;I just don't believe they were original to this knife.If you look at the pictures of th NYK barlows that upnorth posted,note that they have standard nail marks whereas the e-bay example has a match striker nail mark more often used in a stock knife or similar pattern.The blades may be perfectly legitimate.

Looking at the knife again I noticed one other thing, so I went back and checked every NYK I own (4). On each knife the master is stamped Hammer Brand with the arm and hammer, the secondary is stamped New York Knife. On this knife both blades are stamped Hammer Brand and the master is stamped New York Knife on the back.

NYK didn't always use the Hammer Brand stamping, of course, but I just wonder if anyone else has seen the combination shown on the knife in question

THANKS to everyone for your comments. It's about what I figured but having never seen one (until now, upnorth) I didn't really know what one should look like. If it was legit, it is in good shape. Those are some purty barlows upnorth!
