All About Pocket Knives

Picked these up posted before in QA maybe here would get more info. CASE Fixed blades are hard to date can someone give me an idea of Date and value of these two. Thank in advance for any input....

my old parkers book tells me the stamp on the first one was used until 1932 and te second 1932-1940. I really like the first one, PM me if you ever want to unload it

Thanks for the reply MM, the first one was stamped in two different ways one side said one thing and the other something else. How did you know which side to date it by ?? CASE'S tested XX or the other side which said CASE BRADFORD, PA.
Ow and the knives are of great quality my wife would kill me if I sold the LG Hunter lol thats a good woman. I guess the handle is made from leather, Brass and wood washers real fun to look at.

Ow .. thanks, ya the fixed blades are harder for me to figure out. It seems most folders have straight forward markings. Or should I say more info on them , guess the collectors market is bigger maybe.

I love a good fixed blade and think I'll have a more open mind to add them to my colection. some really good old ones out there. Alot of oddball stuff too.

Very true, I keep finding myself buying them. When I was 8 years old I had an old LG hunter fixed blade (passed down from grandpa to Dad to me) which was always sharp and abused. Loved that knife and never did I cut myself with it. It took me 11 years until I grew dumb, and pawned it for a few bucks. It makes me sick now to think of what I did but I guess feeling dumb about it means I'm getting smarter.

I like the stacked leather myself. I have a few but not a whole bunch, will have to change that

Hi:
I have often wondered, are the case tang stamps common to both the folding and fixed blades? It's my opinion that case makes a better fixed blade than their run of the mill folders.
Stagman:(Hi, been a long time) I have heard the term 3 finn, 5 finn bandied about quite a bit. What the heck is its meaning? Thanks for any and all answers and opinions?

I was looking at the 2nd knife. I just bought the smaller version 3" fixed blade. Nice looking bone stag handle! A few scratches near the tip where someone kinda sharpened it but nothing major. Everything else is mint! I love this little knife. I also looked at the Knife collectors guide and found it was a 1932 - 1940 knife.. I also have purchased another Case XX small fixed blade knife. It has a leather handle and the blade is in mint condition but I cant find any of the stamps that "exactly" match the stamp on this knife but several stampings are similar. My knife is CASE XX then USA below it with no dots between usa...The only stampings I can find in collectors books are CASE XX U.S.A. (notice the dots between u.s.a.).....Can anyone tell me what year knife I have. I purchased this off from an older guy at a knife show. This knife is MINT!!! P.S. I just joined up here on AAPK..Have started collecting about 6 months ago so you should be hearing alot from me because I am HOOKED!!!!! Thanks!

Nice Stag on your bird knife and love the Select just got one myself, it's got alot of wieght to it.
