All About Pocket Knives

I have attached a few pictures of a 24047 CASE TESTED XX (??) knife that I just bought. The blades appear to be correct for a 4 blade CASE TESTED XX 47 pattern knife. No such knife listed that I can find in any of Sargents books, but that probably doesn't make it not real as I have owned several CASE pocket knives not in Sargents books. The inside of the knife appears to be untouched with light staining, corrosion, and "pocket fuzz" and there are only one set of handle pins. The lack of a shield makes me wonder. Opinions or suggestions welcome.

Cool old knife, I think it’s right. Punch is different than the newer knives. Harold

I took it to mean that he could not see any extra holes in the liners where it might have once been pinned in another spot.
Not proof that it has not been rehandled, but one piece of evidence.

I still don’t understand I have rehandled 100’s of knives and always use the original pin hole.

What if you weren't just rehandling, but also changing the blade to something from a different era or even a different manufacturer? Would you still be able to line everything up with the original holes?

Yes one would make an adjustment if needed to the tang of the blade or to the spring not the bolsters. If you changed something like the hole in the bolsters the blade wouldn’t pivot correctly and wouldn’t sit correctly in the frame.

When rehandling, do you use the original pins? There is no evidence that the pins have been changed in this 24047 knife. That is to say, the staining/light corrosion around the pins makes it hard to see them.
