New covers for an 89OT

As you Old Timer collectors might know.... the 89OT is not a real common pattern.
This knife was the example I had in my collection for a quite a while.
I got it from an antique store and the PO had carved his initials in the mark side cover.
My first clean-up included sanding his initials out of the cover then cleaning and oiling.
Here was the result of that effort.....
THAT always bothered me......SO, I added another 89OT to my collection a few years ago... Then, this one went into the "extras" pile.
Like I said, I have had it for a while and I "re-found" it a couple of days ago. While looking at it, I figured it was in need of some new covers.
I dug through my cover material stash and I found a zip loc marked "honey amber stag". In their raw state, these slabs were nice and dark. I figured that would look nice on this knife.
After I got the covers installed and finished, I was a little disappointed by the lighter color. I guess I was expecting a darker red but.....well..... this is honey amber. They called the color perfectly.
Here is the result.......
I don't care how clean I think I have gotten a knife, those close-up pics ALWAYS show all the lint and dirt I left behind.
(This knife looks better in hand....LOL)
