Looks to be a correct knife. I see it in one of my reference books as a Cattaraugus No. 21229-3 7/16”, large Spey and pen blades.
Fine lookin’ knife in my opinion.

Thanks Treefarmer. It's one of my favorites. It has an awesome snap.I think it is referred to as a Gelding Knife.

The pattern number stamp looks a little wonky, but probably looked exactly like that from the factory.
Without more pictures it is hard to tell, but from these I see no evidence of tampering.
And speaking of pictures, feel free to post more of that beauty! These old Catts are lovely knives, and yours looks especially nice!

Sorry to say I don't believe the pattern stamp is correct. Aside from the depth and irratic spacing the numbers don't look like typical Catt numbers. Most noticeably the base and sarif type extentions on the number 1 which are nomally just a straight "I" type number. Also the overly rounded kick on the pen blade does not look right. The spey also looks a bit exagerated to my eye. Frame looks to be 100% Catt but I am less than confident the blades are original.

I have been holding my tongue on this one. I haven't seen similar pattern number stamping like this on other Catt's.
