Wyeth slot knife age?

I just bought a Wyeth slot knife and am curious about its age

Thanks for the info and that was all I could find in Levines book. Trying to get it to come apart, but no luck as of yet. Might help if I knew which way to push.

Some of them are locked/unlocked by the position of a blade or blades. Unless you have the blade in the correct position it won't come apart regardless how you push.

Wyeths purchased their knives from a number of manufacturers. That one looks like an Ulster with the rattail bolsters. On the example I have you need to push the side with the spoon up towards the bolsters. They can be tight and sometimes rusted together a bit if they haven't been opened for decades so it may take a bit of effort. The NYK's went the opposite way but they generally had smooth bolsters so I think it's safe to assume you have an Ulster there. Great find!

Yes that appears to be an Ulster.The fork/ caplifter/ can opener combo was their's. They had steel liners and could very well be rusted together.

Wyeth folding knives often had a very nice master blade etched logo.
Too bad it’s not on that one.

Thanks for the great information. I have started to collect the older ULSTERS and I am happy to think this one is an ULSTER.

I had one that wouldn’t separate. A neighbor suggested soaking in in transmission fluid. I did for a couple weeks, and it worked!!
