All About Pocket Knives

Anybody hear or seen of these? They are made in Sheffield, England I'm looking at a Knife and Fork with a steel sharpener in a red case. but I see no stamping of their emblem only the etch on the main blade it's a carving kit Thank you!!

Pictures would likely help a lot LDF!

FRY & WIGFULL LTD.

"This firm was incorporated in 1946. Its address was Talbot Works, Harwood Street, and it manufactured stainless table cutlery, including knives, carving sets, and cased goods. The partners were George Greump Fry (1904-1973) and H. Wigfull (possibly Henry Wigfull, the son of William Henry Wigfull, of Lee & Wigfull). The directors also operated Aluminium Tableware Ltd at the same address. Fry & Wigfull was a member of the UK Cutlery & Silverware Manufacturers’ Association. The firm apparently ceased trading in the late 1970s and then became part of K. Bright Ltd It was finally dissolved in 1995. Its trade mark was the company’s initials, F. & W. Ltd, inside a diamond."

Welcome to AAPK! Always nice to have a new member here, especially one having first-hand knowledge of the cutlery industry. I assume you’re in the UK? (I have family in Ealing, and Sunderland).

Thqnks for the Welcome, My Dad Roy worked in the cutlery Industry most of his life, he worked for F&W for about 25 years until Brights bought them out and he left and set up as a little Mester which he was still doing part time when he died at 72. I worked for a knife handle manufacturer Drake and Sons every school holiday from the age of 11 till I left school at 17. Drakes were around the corner from F&W on Bramall Lane opposite Sheffield Uniteds football ground.
