All About Pocket Knives

I couldn't find a thread that has A. W. Wadsworth & Son.
I don't navigate the search option very well, apparently.
That stamp must be somewhere in the forum I would think.

Anyway, I found this very nice whittler at the flea market today and wanted to show it off.
"How much do you want for this knife? Seller says he wants 20 bucks. I says "Would you consider 15"?
Ya, he says, you can have it for 15. Glory Be!! It needed some cleaning, but it's a very nice whittler.
That center, non tapered liner is new to me. It just stops somewhere. I don't think it's broke.

I have previously posted this in the whittler thread, but will add it here to contribute to this new A. W. Wadsworth page. It is a 3 and 3/8 inch sleeve board whittler with bone handle material. One of the smaller pen blades has a nail file on both sides. It is in great shape and has good snap. I picked it up at the local flea market a while back for I think about $10. I particularly like the jigging on the bone with the straight continuous line on both the front and back. Maybe this jigging style has a name or just the way the Germans did it back in the day. This whittler has the full tapered spacer in the center.

There is no "XLNT" stamp on my secondarys. The main is without a stamp. It never had a stamp.
There are half stops on the whittler blades.

Thanks Joe. I noticed that yours has much the same type of jigging as mine does. Would it be considered worm groove?

Yes, I think that type of jigging with the groove is generally called worm groove.

Recently, this pocket knife arrived and it now becomes the latest example to join this topic or thread and to be added to my general pocket knife collection. It came in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. However, I did NOT buy the group or lot to obtain this particular pocket knife. It is an A.W. WADSWORTH & SON, XLNT, two blades, four tang stamps, 3" closed, one spring, all metal, pocket knife. It has "XLNT" stamped on the main handle side. The main blade front tang stamp says "A.W. (over) WADSWORTH (over) & SON (over) GERMANY" The main blade back tang stamp has the "XLNT" logo. The secondary blade front tang stamp says "A.W. (over) WADSWORTH (over) & SON (over) GERMANY" The secondary blade back tang stamp has the "XLNT" logo. Both blades have good half stops. Both blades have very good opening and closing snap. Overall, it is in GOOD condition. It required minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Here's one, a little different, an A. W. Wadsworth & Son novelty knife. Shame about the blade, but the "handle" is in superb shape.

Thanks, the bone on this is superb, another that I got lucky on at the old bay that had been overlooked. I haven’t been on much , been very busy home and visiting family

I guess this one fits in here. A. W. Wadsworth & Son XLNT knife with Mother of Pearl handles. While the MOP is good, the blades have been used a great deal. The main blade shows the remains of a "Cattle Knife" etch.
