Case pearl peanut with no pins?

I am NOT claiming this knife is a counterfeit - I just do not recall ever seeing a Case with no pins showing.
What do y'all think - is this a factory Case that I am unfamiliar with, or has it been rehandled?

Case’s Pearls produced since early 1980s have covers attached with epoxy.
