Wester Bros Pearl Gent

Just thought this was a cool little knife that others here might enjoy seeing. It’s a 75mm gentleman’s knife with gorgeous mop scales and interesting features. First I don’t see many of these little guys that include a corkscrew. I would be nervous using it with these handles due to pearls brittle nature. The really cool part is the little gold spoon it came with. It could be for snuff but considering how small it is I believe it’s an ear pick for removing wax. I guess they had not figured out how to put cotton on a stick yet. The toothpick is real tortoise shell. Also Wester Bros was one of the German makers, along with D Peres of the original 1890 Swiss soldiers’ knives before Karl Elsener brought manufacturing to Switzerland. They’re known for their straight razors but this knife is amazing.

Great post, Swizz; I am rather fond of those little fellows, myself, and yours is a dandy. I have one in the same vein. I have a poor scan.

Thanks for the posts of the Wester knives. You may have helped solve the riddle of where my Rather & Co. pearl grooming knife originated. It too has an earwax spoon, tortoiseshell toothpick, corkscrew etc among its multiple blades. However it has no country of origin stamped anywhere.

Beautiful knife Ken!! Acier is the French word for steel, the German word is stahl, so perhaps your knife is French made, or maybe made for sale in France. Could also possibly be made in Switzerland since French is one of the official languages there. Gentlemen, the small corkscrews on these knives are for old pill and medicine bottles, not for wine bottles. They were not made for high strength pulling and did not need to be since medicine corks were pretty easy to draw out. Cal's and Swizz's knives are very nice too!
