IMO pocket knives are the first thing to choose when deciding what to EDC. Here are 5 other things to consider

I always carry a pocket knife, card case, paper towel/tissue/handkerchief, cash and wallet with ID and a toothpick. Always wear a watch, sometimes carry a lighter, usually have a leather belt and a fixed blade could be attached.

I just swapped my jeans for tactical pants with 16 pockets. Having a pouch on my belt may have been sound in theory, but it practice, it didn't work at all.
