A long time ago I replaced a broken spring in a Hubertus auto, I enjoyed the repair so I decided to replace the parts of a cheap Italian auto. I started with the blade, used some Damascus from Texas knife makers supply, then added solid Nickel steel alloy bolsters and water buffalo scales. The liners are .062 brass, the only thing I didn't replace was the main spring.
I screwed up the first blade attempt, made a small dagger with it.

Those are pretty sweet for a first-and-second attempt!

I made a Bowie knife in high school out of mild steel, guess that was my first knife. Of course mild steel knife doesn't really count right.
