I have been up to Idaho and Montana. I have friends up there and after spending time with them, I can see how good well taken care of tools could make the difference from surviving from one season to another. Think of all the stories that must go along with them, some told and most untold.

I can only decipher "WARRANTED" on the axe, have you tried doing a pencil/charcoal rub over paper?

Yep, obviously the word WARRANTED is there. The pencil rub was tried some years ago but reveals nothing legible. The family has colonial roots so some interesting items were around as I was growing up. When I was a kid I added the leather thong to this one. I am the caretaker for it as well.

Sometimes dusting flour in the grooves will make a stamp more legible. SOMETIMES.
