GSM Cutstomer Service for Cold Steel products apparently non-existent,

The only Cold Steel products I have ever purchased have been their hawks - Norse, Frontier, Pipe, Trail, etc for throwing purposes, so I never expected to be able to use any warranty that allegedly came with them.

However, apparently GSM, who purchased Cold Steel from LT a while back has ZERO repair parts for any prior Cold Steel products. A long-time CS fan over on Bladeforums posted today that GSM told him point blank that they had no parts for CS products and they will not be carrying any.

Another poster in the same thread indicated that even if you have your receipt, getting warranty support is dang near impossible to get.

Sounds like GSM/Cold Steel is circling the drain.

I read recently that SOG had also been purchased by this company. Hopefully the same doesn't happen to them.

Buck, Victorinox, Leatherman, Gerber, and even Skedco (who markets a rebranded Eickhorn as their own-brand rescue knife) have given me absolutely zero problem sending in just about anything. Victorinox even completely rebuilt a model from the late '60s that had been discontinued since the '70s by replacing it scissors (which in the 84mm frame, had not been produced since the 1980s), main blade, liners (which are prone to cracking), as well as the handles.

MOST of Cold Steel's models equal or outprice anything from pretty much everyone else, and most companies will send anything from screws and clips to a sheath. Skedco even sent me the proprietary spanner Eickhorn uses as a pivot tool.

Many times when one company purchases another this is part of the agreement, that the purchasing company is not going to be burdened by the expense of servicing and warrantying things they did not make. I suppose it makes sense as a way to limit expenses.

I had bought a small ratcheting screwdriver from Lowe's shortly after Craftsman stuff started appearing there. The thing broke within a week.

First question I was asked at Lowe's was that whether it came from there or not--as the previous (read, good) Craftsman stuff was no longer warrantied after Sears sold the brand to Stanley. It was exchanged quickly, and I think I stashed the replacemetn and never used it more than a couple of times.

Turns out, that same design was sold by just about everybody (including Menard's) for about $4-5 less than it was as Craftsman.

I was just on the phone with GSM wanting a pocket clip for my Twitch II.
Got my personal info and put me on hold....thankfully I never gave any money info.
Waited too long.....I hung up.
