All About Pocket Knives

Hi folks. New to the group and wanted to share the biggest mystery of my collection. It’s a little pierced steel fob-type knife with cut engraved scrollwork. Two polished blades. One blade seems to have an acid etched “57” or “67” on it. Otherwise nothing else to identify. The inner tension spring is blued, all the rest is just steel with no signs it was ever finished or plated. I would really appreciate your take on this as to how it coil be and possible origin. It was an antique shop find with no known history to it. Thanks

Here's a similarly pierced one from E, Bercio, Firenzi, Italy. I thought yours might also be Italian. ?? Neat piece. J.O'.

The pattern in general is known as a "lobster knife", i.e. blade (or blades) on both top and bottom 'deck' with springs running along the center axis of the knife. I have never seen one like yours. It is an attractive little knife.

to AAPK Tery! Although I personally have never seen anything like your knife, I can say it's very cool! There are plenty of knowledgeable knifers on this site who will see your post eventually and should be able to provide you with some info, so be sure to keep checking back to this thread!
