All About Pocket Knives

I just wanted to see if anyone has seen a knife like this. It looks to be a camper's knife. Leather punch, corkscrew can opener and bottle opener on top and of course a knife blade. It has INOX on blade which I think stands for stainless steel. No other markings.

Usually those guards are for pulling shotgun shells out of break open shotguns.

European style "Sportsman's" knife with shell extractor. Should be marked with gauge on the guard/extractor, probably 16, that's a popular gauge in Europe. No maker's mark? Could be an Asian copy. J.O'.

Well Eveled and Ridgegrass
You guys are correct. Apparently it is for shell extraction. I would never had guessed that 12 gauge is a little tight. 20gauge is to small. I have a 16 gauge but the shells are packed away somewhere. You guys are smart. I just tried a coke bottle not even close. Thanks for your information when I find the 16 gauge shells I will try them.

Apparently, it's for 16 gauge and 12 gauge 16 is on one side 12 on the other. I never would have thought that.

Glad to help. I didn’t realize some were for 2 gauges. Learn something new everyday!

These shell-puller bolsters have been around for awhile Nev! I have a few of them like in the pictures. They were invented in the days when you'd break the breach of your shotgun after firing to remove the spent shells and insert new one's, but the guns in those days didn't have an automatic shell eject so the shells had to be extracted manually and the spent shells were too hot to the touch, hence the shell-puller bolsters were invented. Guns and knives have always gone together so to add this feature to their knives was just done naturally! I tried to capture the calibre stamps on the bolsters in the bottom 2 pictures, but wasn't too successful. If you double-click the last picture you can just make it out!

Man, that is a nice knife. Does yours have the cork screw , can opener and leather punch? I guess back in the day you would go shoot. Then open a can of beer or bottle of wine then punch a new hole in you belt.

Ah, ha, ha, ha you kill me! ! You forgot after "go shoot", "pull spent shells...", ! LOL! It was all soundin' good until "then punch a new hole in your belt"! I always wondered why they put those awls on camping knives? No, my knife has NO attachments, and if it did it wouldn't be mine, I am a dedicated 1-blade preferably dagger grind kindda guy, so no, just it's single spear-point blade, no miniature kitchen utensils on my knives, never have never will! LOL! I can barely handle it has a bale!!! That's the 11" model, I also have the 9" and all are in both stainless and brass! All the details are in "My manual folders" or scattered through "Comfort knives"! Thx for the compliment!
