2022 Duck Decoy Giveaway
Posted: Sun Mar 27, 2022 2:51 pm
It is time again for the now 4th annual Duck Decoy Give Away. The decoy this year will be awarded on April 7 which is also NATIONAL BEER DAY. This is my modern made replica of an old pattern called a "wire and canvas" decoy. Instead of a decoy made from one solid piece of wood, or two pieces hollowed out, these were made from wood, wire, and canvas in areas of the country that did not have large trees for decoy blocks. They were also lighter in weight than all wood decoys, so more could be carried for the same weight. All the winner needs to do is clear out some space in their man cave or she shed for this fine bird to have a place to roost. For photos on how these are constructed, click this link.

This year as a further perk to the AAPK users who have Premium Memberships, ALL ENTRANTS MUST BE AAPK PREMIUM MEMBERS. You will have until April 7 (6:00 P.M. Eastern) to pick a number. After this time, any entries submitted will be disregarded, as will entrants who are not current paid up AAPK Premium Members. The winner will be determined by the Illinois State Lottery evening pick three drawing on April 7. The Individual closest to the selected number without going over will win. You must be 18 years of age or older to play. Previous winners are not eligible (yes that means you rea1eye, Knife Nut, and Snapper). The winner will be sent a PM after the drawing and will have 5 days to respond with your name and shipping address, if you do not respond within the allotted time the decoy will be given to the next closest winner on the list without going over.
Thanks Bryan for your help in setting this up.
This year the bird awarded will be this Redhead decoy and the picture is of the actual bird the winner will receive. This year I have done this a little different and used glass eyes in the decoy. In the past I went with the rustic original look of nail heads for the eyes. He is 14 and 1/4 inches from nose to tail. Also, lets be paying attention here guys and get your entry number before the deadline stated above, and have your AAPK Premium Membership up to date.. Good luck to one and all!
