Is this knife i have a regular old 1940-1964 case hunter? It has the right tang stamp but no pattern stamp at all and the main blade appears to be flat ground as apposed to saber ground. Has anyone ever seen this or does it mean anything special?

I believe your knife is legit. It is a XX era and dates 1940-49. It was produced with both the flat and saber ground blades. Your knife has what is known as a high pull on the main blade. It is collectable even though it isn't close to mint. It is still a nice knife.

Early XX model with green bone scales. Some of the early CASE XX knives did not have the pattern number.
