All About Pocket Knives

Does anybody now what branch of the service would use this style knife ? I have a lot of the regular style that has the knife , can opener , bottle cap/ screwdriver and awl but this one has a smaller knife blade on it rather than the awl .

I have been under the impression these were sold as civilian models in the immediate years after the war.

The can opener has patent pending stamped on it , I know the patent was applied for on November 7 , 1944 and the patent was granted on December 25 , 1945 so I would guess this knife was made around 1944 to 1945 and the screw driver/ cap lifter is on the same side as the knife same as the early ww2 era models and has brass liners . Some people suggested possible air force / navy . Not really sure I cant find much on it , its been on my keychain since I was a kid it was given to me by my next-door neighbor and I know he was I WW2 but I never asked him about where it came from. its one of my favort pieces that I actually use daily and is always with me.

You might try and research some info on the neighbor that gave you the knife, there might be a record of what branch he served in during WWII.
I'll go along with your assessment on the age based on the patent pending stamp.
