I have several books by Jim. The large books 2 thru 7. The Knife Nook books 2 and 3. Also a real thin book Knife nook with out any number, Thought it may have been his first book. Did he start his big books with number 2? What am I missing of his books?

I thought for sure you'd get some kind of response on this question. I don't have any of his books so this information would be helpful to me as well.

Go to
www.abebooks.com, put
American Premium Guide to Knives and Razors in the title search and Jim Sargent in the author search. Submit it. That will bring up pages of sources that have the book available in any and all editions. Tip - pay attention to the year of publication and the description for the listing. Some sellers use stock pictures for their listings so what is pictured may not be what you think it is. If in doubt you should send a question to the seller via the site.
You can sort through those looking at which edition is offered to see if there is a 1st edition available. This site is a compilation of independent used book sellers worldwide and has probably the largest inventory of used books in the world.
BTW I have bought books from sellers through abebooks.com for years and never had a problem.
Ken
Edit: not sure what the date of Sargent's first "big book" would be but I found one with a date of 1985 on the site.

I don't know if this helps but I believe I have the 1st addition of American Premium Guide to Knives and Razors
with no Edition marking on the cover but was copyright 1986
The 2nd edition has copyright 1989 and the cover says 2nd Edition
The 3nd edition has copyright 1992 and the cover says 3nd Edition
The 4nd edition has copyright 1995 and the cover says 4th Edition
The 6nd edition has copyright 2004 and the cover says 6th Edition
I do not have the 5th or 7th editions
