pocket knife query

Hi all,
Happy new yr to you all
i havent been on here for a while, but i wanted to post a Pic of a knife i have IXL George Wostenholm shefield england, the surname is without the E so research says late 1800s they started to lose the E, ive not seen a blade like this before, just wondered what you all thought about it, also think the casing is bone or simular

That looks like a horse/farm fleam for bleeding

Although I'm not too familiar with them, the blade looks like a fleam to me too, and I believe they are/were use for castrating/bleeding livestock, but I may be way off base! Keep checking back to this thread because someone who knows your knife will see it and provide you with accurate information!

No answer on the blade, but an exposed fleam would certainly be a liability in a pocket, Is there an edge on that end ? Handle looks like gutta percha, (hard rubber). It's an odd one. ?? J.O'.

I am going to agree with Bob that it’s an ink eraser. I don’t think the cutting edge on the rounded extension is deep enough for a fleam. JMO. Possibly lived in or on a desk, not in someone’s pocket.
