All About Pocket Knives

For your viewing pleasure are two, old, neglected guys that just got a little TLC. I confess, up front, that I am a total sucker for streamliners and can't seem to pass one up that is in decent shape and still repairable. This one (minus the outgassing celluloid scales) had been imprisoned in my on-deck box for far too long. I like to do these with a variety of handle materials and am not trying to restore them to what they originally came with. After rummaging through my box of handle materials, I discovered a piece of burgundy (or maybe crimson) canvas micarta that I had forgotten about years ago. ( I don't even remember what I used this stuff for.) After cutting the scales for the streamliner, I still had a small piece left. Just enough for the little Simmons Hardware jack that was also neglected for far too long. The little square piece in the first picture was all that was left after doing both knives. No kidding, I'm not making this up, it worked out this perfectly. The last 2 pics are a cammy muskrat that I think I may rescue next from the on-deck box. Maybe smooth blue bone, or maybe ?

I’ve been looking for a nice one of those for awhile now. I’ve got two “parts” Streamliners but both of those have blade issues. I’ll round up a nice one eventually.

I have bought a couple that need TLC, but they have been sharpened on a grinder, and will never look as pretty as that one!
That muskrat looks like a fun one. Most Camillus knives are fun to repair for some reason, in my opinion.

Beautifully done Herb! You sure did stretch everything out of that piece of Micarta! I think the bottom knife would look teriffic in blue bone!

Nice work, those look great! Micarta is my favorite handle material and that burgundy color matches those knives very well.

Beautiful job Herb! Those Steamliner's are soooo cool! I guess it has something to do with the blade etch & the tang stamp.

I'm a sucker for a Streamline also. They both look nice. I kinda like the Simmons better!
