I've heard that new Remingtons are being made by United Cutlery, and are of good quality. Has anybody seen examples to prove this rumor??

Hi El Lobo,

I'm not sure about all of the remingtons but I know the MOPs are china made. I got on in an order of Rough Riders.

I'm not sure if this is the style of knives you asking about but I hope this helps.

Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the response. ::tu::
I was familiar with the North Carolina knives made offshore...possibly in the same facilities as the Rough Riders, as you mentioned. However, Bernard Levine mentioned, on one of his forums, that Cutlery Hall of Famer Ron Lake showed him a Remington marked knife, recently made by the Arrowhead divison of United Cutlery, in Sevierville, TN.....and both felt the knife was very well made.
I checked United's site...then Remington's site, but no fanfare or information... :roll: :(
I did notice there is a link from Remington's cutlery page directly to Smoky Mountain Knifeworks (in Sevierville)...I wonder how long that has been there? Seems ripe for some kind of connection, eh?

Anybody else have information?

Thanks,

(Curious) Bill :mrgreen:

I probably won't get an answer, but I posted this question on the Camillus manufacturers forum at Blade Forums.

We'll see...

Jim,

I don't know what you mean about not getting an answer over there?
Why, a Camillus representative stops by on a regular basis...about every 3 years. :x
If it weren't for Tom Williams, a long time former employee, I believe that forum would be dead. There is lots more action in the Schrade Collectors forum...and they've been out of business for a year and a half. Whatever.
