All About Pocket Knives

This month Jody (Jody744) Kalb has donated a Bear & Son Office knife with white smooth bone handles. For more than 100 years, collectors have sought after the historical and elegant Office knife as these knives were a useful and popular tool with almost every traditional cutlery company making their own unique version. The one in this month’s giveaway comes from Red Hill Cutlery’s Josh Basham who designed this modern rendition of a traditional favorite using Bear and Son’s new 79 single blade pen knife pattern. This art design is exclusive to Red Hill Cutlery and was extremely limited.

The Bear & Son 79 is an improved version of the 2 blades 79 Pen Knife from the ’80s & ’90s. This single-blade version features a lanyard hole and screw-together construction. The Taper Ground 2-1/4″ Drop Point Blade is made from High Carbon Stainless Steel, making it rust-resistant, easy to sharpen, and will hold an edge exceptionally well. The Bear & Son 79 has a nail nick present to open the blade. The Bear & Son 79 has an overall length of 6″ and is a good size to fit in the pocket. The 79 weighs 2.2 ounces and is proudly made in the USA.

Instructions for entering the giveaway...

Simply click here and select a number between 0 and 999.

You will have until January 31st (6:00 P.M. Eastern) to pick a number after which entries will not be considered. The winner will be determined by the Illinois State Lottery evening pick three drawing on January 31st. The individual closest to the selected number without going over will win. The Illinois lottery results can be found on the following website:

You must be 18 years of age or older and a member in good standing to play. The first-place winner will be sent an AAPK Private-Message (PM) after the drawing and will have 5 days to respond with contact and shipping information. If the first-place winner does not respond within the 5 days, the knife will be offered to the next player on the list without going over.

The next-place winner will be sent an AAPK PM, and they will have 3 days to respond with contact and shipping information. If the next-place winner does not respond within the 3 days, the knife will be offered in the same manner to the next-place winner on the list without going over.

...Tom sorry you had a difficult time recruiting knife donors for '22. I haven't been active and didn't see the request until now but I'd like to serve as a backup incase someone is unable to donate a knife for their month, just message me.

I don't quite get it either ... I can (and do) set reminders on numerous devices like my phone, tablet, computer and watch ... in the almost 4 years that I've been running the giveaway, 16 people have failed to claim their winnings
