All About Pocket Knives

Hello,

Just joined this site. Love it so far! I know almost nothing about pocket knives. Except for I like carrying one and I love looking at them. I have a couple old knives lying around that I got from my dad and other random places. I don't know what they are. I would love to know something about them.

Can anyone tell me anything about this one? Thanks in advance! ~Andrew

I don't have an answer as to who made your knife, but it does look very unique. It reminds me of a small European-made Camper style knife, but I cannot figure out the little "scoop" style blade. I may be totally wrong, so I will read eagerly as the experts come along and can hopefully tell you something useful.

Welcome to AAPK. Your knife is intriguing. The little “scoop” blade is reminiscent of the earwax spoons found on old grooming knives from the 1800s to early 1900s. But the knife doesn’t appear that old so it’s probably for some other purpose. Your picture looks out of focus so can’t make out the stamp on the blade. What I see, I don’t recognize.

Reverand, Thank you for taking the time to reply. I know next to nothing about pocket knives. I have a few old things that I like to fiddle around with and carry. So any little bit of info helps. Good to know this style is called 'Camper'. I'm learning little by little. Thanks! Happy New Year!

Thanks for the warm welcome Mumbleypeg. Aha, that little spoon may be for grooming. That is interesting. No the knife does not seem to be very old. Sorry for the bad photo. I live in the dark ages with a non-smart phone. I will try to get some better pics with a different camera. Happy New Year!

My guess is that your knife was made in China. China has been manufacturing every type of knife imaginable in the last about 20 years. Some are of high quality.

I fiddled with the tang stamp but it still doesn't tell me anything. Maybe someone else will recognize it. Looks foreign to me.
