Case 6265SAB Tang Stamp over Older Tang Stamp

This is a 6265 SAB and if you look at the tang stamp you can see another Case tang stamp underneath. Is this fairly common and why did they do this? Thanks for any input!

It wasn’t done on purpose. The stamp probably was mis-struck, or it “bounced” when struck, causing a double strike. It happens occasionally. Doesn’t make the knife more or less valuable.
If you look at the video I posted in reply to another of your questions, you can see the blades being stamped out of rolled sheets of steel. In the current manufacturing process the tang stamp is applied at the same operation when the blades are cut/stamped from the steel sheet.
