All About Pocket Knives

I got a chance to get in my shop last weekend and work on the 123OT that had a tipped and poorly re-shaped blade.

Here is what it looked like when I rescued it from the bay.

I got a bunch of 123OT blades from a guy on ebay. I love the feel and look of this little "Pocket Hunter".
SO.... here she is with her new blade installed. (it's in my pocket this morning!)

I want to try a mid-size Folding Hunter, and I prefer the Schrade to the Case. I'm tempted to try a 123OT in the form of the much less expensive Taylor version since Tractor Supply has them as the Christmas special knife this year, but I don't like putting any money in these Chinese Schrades. So, if I want to try a midsize Folding Hunter, I might as well go with the Case.

I think I'm better off getting a beater and having a new blade (and handles) put on it.

The USA Schrade 123OT is a hard one to find. I have 3 including this one.
Schrade only made them for 4 years (1984 - 1988) but they must not have made a lot of them. The price back then was $75.

Which was a huge amount with inflation factored in, given the Case Mid Folding Hunter, before Case started mostly offering just the assisted open versions, is that now.

I looked for a 123OT that I could afford for a long time. Finally paid $65 for (same model I think) a USA Schrade - fancy with bone handles and engraving of Statue of Liberty on the blade. Too nice to use or carry, just my luck.
