This has been discussed before but I thought it would be worth posting this topic again. In general knives should show similar wear when used. Blades can be favored in multiblades and used more than others but the knives should still pretty much agree with themselves as far as use and wear is concerned. One thing you see time and time again on eBay is knives that are heavily cleaned described as being mint, near mint or excellent condition when they are far from it. The knife tang stamps can be a quick tell that there has been some cleaning done.
Posted is a knife on ebay that is describred as being mint. Unfortunately it looks like buyers are bidding on it as if it is. Look at how far down the edge of the knife blade is from the kick. There is some significant blade loss. Look at the pattern stamp, an area that often escapes the cleaning that the blade undergoes. The pattern stamp is somewhat obscured and shows buffing and pitting. No picture of the blade closed in the well to check the blade length which is far too typical of eBay knife sales. Also note that the handle has a significant crack on the front at the tail end pin although the seller states no handle cracks.
Far from mint I would say. Used and cleaned with a handle crack would be a more accurate description. But that description might not garner enough money.
Buyer beware especially on eBay. Lots of reworks, fakes, wishful and inaccurate descriptions.
