Maker or contracted out!!??

I have a nice very pretty in good shape "Holston & Sons" pen knife. Split spring with 3 blades....the main blade is extremely stout.
Mother of pearl scales...my question now is....since I am assuming it is related to the Old gun store and gun smith facility in Birmingham, England...but did they make it or had it contracted out...and who made it then...?
Any help or hint is greatly appreciated!
