All About Pocket Knives

My grandson is now old enough to enjoy doing things in my shop. HE... actually ask if we could go down to my shop Saturday.... SO, I was happy to oblige.

While he was tinkering with his project, I pulled out this 8OT that was in my clean up box.
The first pic below is the seller's pic and (of course) the tip of the main blade is out of the picture. Well, the tip was all boogered up with 3 or 4 little edge nicks. There was NO walk and talk in this poor knife AT ALL. After I got started with the first round of clean up, I could see the rust went pretty deep. Mostly from moisture build-up while it was closed and sitting in a drawer.

The reason I got this one in the first place was because the all the blades looked full. It had probably never been opened but a very few times.
Realistically, I probably worked on this knife with sandpaper and oil for 3 or 4 hours while my grandson worked on his project. I would stop occasionally when a question came from Clark. After a few minutes of instruction, I was back at my project too. I am SO happy that he enjoys seeing what makes things "tick". It was a wonderful weekend.

Here is the result of the clean up on the 8OT.... It will be a nice one to tote!

8ot’s are always heavily used and it’s getting harder and harder to find ones with a good main blade. And when you do find them it seems like you have to pay a bit more for them.

It seems the USA Old Timers that are in good shape are more in demand now.

Looks like you were a winner twice! The first was the save of that knife. The second, and most important, was time spent with family!

That 80T would fit nice in your grandson's pocket! ftd

Yep... that second one sure is the most important and most enjoyable!
