As long as you keep posting them John, we'll keep lookin' at em'! Beautiful group you showed today! Not my style, but I can still appreciate a well-built automatic knife, or any well-built knife for that matter!

The secret is to start collecting these 65 years ago when they were less expensive and there were a few more around. Of course at this point you only have so much time left to enjoy them. This was only a few displays There is a building full of other displays besides these. It is an addiction. Glad you enjoyed the pics keep looking they are out there. Sadly there is no venue to place these after I do croak. So like so many others this history will scatter in the wind. Oh well I guess it will not matter to me then. LT PS a friend of mine used to say that there were no trailers on a hearse so you cannot take it with you.

LT, like I said, stunning collection. Sold my first collection about 15 years ago and really regretted it. Started again about 5-6 years ago. Not sure I can achieve what you have, but I will keep trying. Again, STUNNING!

Hey RL , what’s the maker on box # 8 top ? Looks like a Sheffield piece. So … I’ll be retiring soon and your museum is on my list … is it still open for visits ?

Let me know when you hit the lottery, In the mean time let me know if you are looking for anything. I really only collect one example of each pattern style ect.( I do upgrade examples) But sometimes you buy a collection and end up with with stuff you already have Sometimes you have to buy a whole collection for just one piece. There is not alot I am looking for at this point. but sometimes I have seconds of some stuff. If not I also get offered stuff and may know where something you are looking for might be. Good luck LT

That knife is a mid 1800s Wolstenholm I have moved it to a new spot since that picture to a display of mid 1800s autos Linguards ect, I am no longer affialiated with the museum. There direction was not mine they are I believe still open.
It was sad especially after 8 years getting the laws changed to allow a procedure to legally display automatics in museums in NYS. and another 7 years getting the project off the ground. My name is all I am taking with me and if something does not sit right with me I will not be part of it. I wish them luck. LT

You can take them with you.
You don't need a trailer just a casket, bury them before you kick the bucket in the cemetery next to your plot.
That's what I plan on doing

Dimitri, how can you deprive the joy your collection brings you from another collector?
I hope one of my nieces or nephew gets interested in knives so I don't have to sell mine. But if I do sell, I hope it will be to someone who will carry on the legacy and passion of knife making history.
John

If you ever want to sell one of the Schrade-Walden "Hunter's Pride" let me know. During the 1960s a sporting goods store by the name of Les & Bob's had one in a display case. It was there just to be seen. I would have done just about anything to have that knife.
I have loved that pattern for more than 60 years!
