All About Pocket Knives

Like to hear what you guys think of this one? Italian, American or English? Approximate age. Only picture I have it’s not my knife. Mike

This was the owners response when i showed a couple of old Frosolone's 1900 circa.

"that is not a swell center pattern. Mine is. The swell center pattern that later became known as a coke bottle is 100% Sheffield. The spear point blade shape was the common blade in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. As was the integral iron liners and bolsters. The fact that the Italians later copied the look of the bolsters in the 20th century is just a testament to the influence that the Sheffield knives had on everyone."

He also added this

"again not the same. You need to study genuine old knives more and not 40 year old knives."

I have several of these in varying lengths Mike, and I can honestly state they're genuine hand-made Italians by M. Fraraccio! Notice the identical pin placement. Sorry bout' the poor pic!

Who is this guy who gives you a lecture on knives ? Did he think he was communicating with a novice knife person ?
Are handles ivory or bone ?

I'll get right on that. Really didn't care for the comment but wanted to learn more and if I was mistaken about the knife and if I was missing something. I have been wrong before and am always looking to learn.

That being said, I sent pictures of the knife to others I know that have way more knowledge then me with this type of knife and it's definitely an old 1900 Frosolone made knife. Oh well live and learn.

Oh Roland I didn't ask about the covers and probably will not so I don't know.
